Author Biographies

Georgia Ella McWhinney, Macquarie University

Georgia McWhinney is a PhD candidate in the Department of Modern History, Politics and International Relations at Macquarie University. Her work examines medical, dress, and military history, examining the spread of disease through British and Dominion army uniforms in the First World War, and soldiers’ vernacular medicine. She is an editor of Humanity Postgraduate Journal and a 2019 Visiting Scholar at the State Library of New South Wales.

Lara McGirr, Macquarie University

Lara McGirr is a PhD Candidate in the Department of Anthropology at Macquarie University. Her research considers the lived experiences of training doctors in Australia. In particular, her research focuses on the effects of ‘emerging adulthood’—the period of time between adolescence and adulthood—and the neoliberalisation of medicine on the wellbeing of training doctors. Lara is an editor of the Humanity Postgraduate Journal and is a registered counsellor with the Australian Counselling Association (ACA).

Marian Jean Lorrison, Macquarie University

Marian Lorrison is a PhD candidate in the Department of Modern History, Politics and International Relations at Macquarie University. Her work explores gender relations across a time of change and highlights the diversity of feminine experience in late nineteenth and early twentieth century Australia.  She is an editor of Humanity Postgraduate Journal.
